Gimp: Sailing Image

I selected the bottom portion with the select tool and then used gradient. Then i used the Ellipse select tool to make the sun half of it off the gradient. I deleted the portion that was not on the gradient with the rectangle tool. I made a copy and flipped it. The I selected the top portion add a different gradient used the airbrush with white and then smudge it in. The word I used text tool

The boat image was duplicated so to make the shadow it was flipped it and opacity was changed to 45
